Large Format E Ink Display
Large E Ink panels can hold still artwork or information across a wall-scale surface. A panel module is not a finished installation, so plan the controller, mounting, lighting, and service access with it.
What counts as a large E Ink display?
It is a larger electronic-paper panel used to show a still image without the constant glow of a backlit screen. E Ink sells modules for signage at sizes such as 25.3 inches. That module is a component, not a framed art product ready to hang.
For one documented example, E Ink lists a 25.3-inch Spectra 6 color module at 3200 by 1800 pixels. Another model may have a different size, resolution, color system, or controller. Use the exact model sheet for the project rather than treating a sample specification as universal.
Plan the whole installation
A large panel needs a way to receive images, a controller to update it, suitable power, a safe enclosure, and mounting that carries the finished unit. It also needs enough ambient light for the image to be seen. The display panel can retain an image without power, but the installed system may still use electricity for its other parts.
Decide who will change the artwork, how often that will happen, and how the installer will reach the unit for service. A beautiful mockup cannot answer those questions.
Ask for these details before pricing the wall
- The exact panel model, active image area, outer dimensions, weight, and native pixel dimensions.
- Whether the quote includes the controller, enclosure, mounting hardware, cabling, software, and installation labor.
- The lighting and temperature conditions the finished product supports.
- Measured whole-system power while updating and while waiting, plus the intended update schedule.
- A proof of the actual artwork on the chosen panel at the planned viewing distance.
Where should the content live?
A wall-scale E Ink display works best when the content is designed as a still composition. If the job calls for video, quick changes, or a bright image in a dark venue, compare a conventional display before committing to ePaper.
